Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is a focused, evidence-informed therapeutic approach that helps individuals access a calm, attentive state and gain deeper access to subconscious patterns that influence thoughts, emotions, and behavior. In this state, people are often better able to explore patterns, shift responses, and work through concerns that feel difficult to address through conscious effort alone.

At Medical Psychology Associates, we use clinical hypnosis as part of a thoughtful, collaborative treatment process. It is not stage hypnosis or loss of control. You remain aware and engaged throughout, with the ability to stop or redirect the process at any time.

How Clinical Hypnosis Helps

Clinical hypnosis can be helpful when symptoms feel automatic, deeply ingrained, or resistant to change. By working with attention and imagination in a structured way, hypnosis can support changes at both cognitive and emotional levels.

Clinical hypnosis may help with:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • Trauma-related symptoms and emotional reactivity

  • Phobias and specific fears

  • Pain management and psychosomatic symptoms

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Habit patterns that feel hard to interrupt

  • Performance anxiety and confidence concerns

  • Gain deeper access to subconscious patterns that shape emotional and behavioral responses

Hypnosis does not replace therapy. It is a tool used within therapy to support insight, regulation, and change.

Our Approach

We use clinical hypnosis within a broader, individualized therapy framework. Before hypnosis is introduced, we take time to understand your history, goals, and comfort level. Hypnosis is only used when it aligns with your needs and when there is a strong therapeutic foundation in place.

Our clinicians integrate hypnosis with other psychological approaches, including trauma-informed therapy, insight-oriented work, and skills-based strategies. Hypnosis can allow for deeper access to subconscious patterns that may be difficult to reach through insight alone, helping support meaningful and lasting change.

The goal is not control or suggestion, but helping you access internal resources and create change that feels authentic and sustainable.
